My name is Kendall Bouchlas and I am seventeen years old. .
When I first began taking photographs, I was taking them of flowers, landscapes, etc. It wasn’t until I began looking at photographs other artists had taken that I began to focus on portraiture. I was very reluctant to ask people to model for me, so I used myself as the model. I must have been a sight to see! A girl with a broken tripod, dressed up in eccentric outfits, parading around the neighborhood. Yes, I got many strange looks. Once I realized that I would improve my portraits with a model, I asked my sisters, Hadley and Layton. They are the most terrific models I could have ever asked for. Hadley especially, will do anything I ask to get the shot.
I don’t know what the future will hold for me. I can say that without photography or even art in general, I would feel as though my life lacked purpose. I had a mantra given to me by someone whom I love very much. I was going through quite a rough patch and she said to me, "Remember this, ‘I have what it takes’". With a camera in my hand, I believe her.
